Qualifications and skills
Karl has a first class joint honours degree in computer and business studies from the University of Warwick and an MSc in computer science by research for which he was awarded a distinction. He is skilled at eliciting important messages from market research and providing comprehensive and actionable recommendations to assist our clients further develop their activities. His business knowledge and technical skills combine to provide a strong foundation for tackling complex research problems.
Background and experience
Karl has worked at Databuild for four years. Prior to working at Databuild, Karl spent an intensive year conducting research in Empirical Modelling, an innovative approach to the development of computer based models developed at the University of Warwick, as well as assisting in the delivery of modules for undergraduates in the Computer Science department.
Karl has developed sound experience of evaluating government programmes and activities. The projects he has undertaken have involved investigating awareness and usage information as well as attitudinal data. Karl is currently managing projects for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP). The experience gained in his MSc has proven particularly valuable in delivering a recent project for WRAP developing a model to quantify the impact of Defra funded resource efficiency delivery activities in England.
Karl has been instrumental in evaluating Databuild’s management information systems and is currently overseeing an internal project to develop a library of analysis tools with the aim of streamlining our processes to make them more efficient.
